Dig deeper into current trends at Facilities Management Expo 2023

Held from 6 to 8 June 2023 at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, Facilities Management Expo is a proven launchpad for solutions from leading facilities management providers. Adding to its multiple benefits as a marketing and brand awareness tool for organisations, is the fact that it is co-located with Securex South Africa, A-OSH EXPO, and Firexpo.

According to Mordorintelligence.com, the South African facility management (FM) market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.65% during the forecast period 2022-2027. They observed that:

  • Increasing demand for outsourced facility management, infrastructural developments, and investments in the private sector are some of the key drivers responsible for market growth.
  • South Africa’s population growth, economic dynamism, and rapid urbanisation are also expected to generate business opportunities, provided that investments are made to enhance infrastructure and regional connectivity, in line with the Africa Union’s Agenda 2063.
  • With the outbreak of COVID-19, the facility management market in South Africa witnessed a slight immediate decline in growth. During the initial phase of the virus outbreak, the imposed lockdown led to a workforce shortage across the FM companies, as the majority were non-local.
  • A significant trend in the adoption of specialised area-based services has been recorded in lieu of the unprecedented demand for computing capacity following a sudden and significant shift to online working due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“With shifts in the facilities management sector, brought about in great part by the COVID-19 lockdown, it is essential that facilities managers stay up to date on trends that will optimise operations. Facilities Management Expo gathers exhibitors who are able to provide these facilities managers with product and service solutions that capitalise on the developments within the sector,” says Mark Anderson, Portfolio Director at Specialised Exhibitions (a division of Montgomery Group).

“We know that there is a substantial amount of overlap between the solutions sought by visitors at these synergistic expos. One solid example is the link of occupational safety and health (OSH) with facilities management. We have noted that coping with COVID-19 means that FM departments take more ownership over employee health and welfare, to ensure those employee experiences are positive. In CBRE’s Healthy Offices research, it was stated that employee wellness programmes increase productivity by 10% on average and as much as 45% in some cases,” says Anderson.

In addition to hosting an abundance of solutions under one roof, Facilities Management Expo enhances the visitor experience through live demonstrations, networking opportunities, and knowledge downloads from the free-to-attend Facilities Management Seminar Theatre.
